Lead Poisoning Prevention

We want to celebrate the success of our Health and Wellness team’s recent Pot Exchange events! Not only have they given out over 125 pots, but they’ve reached close to 500 individuals through their health education initiative surrounding the negative effects of lead exposure.

The events provided an opportunity for children and adults to receive direct services from medical providers with testing for elevated blood lead levels and doctors on site to discuss results and follow up measures. Participants were also able to access free flu and COVID-19 vaccines and take home hygiene kits along with their new, stainless steel, lead-free pots!

Not only did our Health and Wellness team organize and host these events, but they arranged for interpretation, rides, and further medical support for clients that needed it. Their ongoing efforts in this area, in connection with our amazing partners, Spokane Regional Health District and CHAS Health, have made a huge difference in supporting clients and community members who are navigating this pressing health issue!
